It was hard to watch the end of the Premier League because Liverpool and Manchester City were deciding who would win the title. Both teams had a hard time in the Champions League, especially Liverpool which had high expectations but lost in the finals against Real Madrid.
The bookies for this season still don’t have the odds for the champion so you might look at the esports odds while they figure it out. There have been a lot of changes in the league including a few transfers and the drop of Watford.
Manchester City took the advantage of a couple of points and won their last game to guarantee the title. But, some predictions are not so great for them this season and it will be tougher than ever. There will be more transfers happening in upcoming weeks so it’s hard to estimate who has the best chances to win.
Start of the Season
The season begins in the first week of August which is similar to most seasons before, meaning that the players will have two months to prepare. The only difference from the last season is the break they will have in the middle because of the World Cup. This has to be done because the players will need to go and play for their country.
It’s estimated that the last game of PL before the Cup will be the second week of November and it will resume after the Cup ends. The end of the season is on May 28 like the finals of the Championship in 2022.
Are There Any Changes?
Besides having a small break for the Cup, there were debates over the number of substitutions that a team can make. After the COVID situation, every team had 5 substitutions available and for a short time, this was returned to 3 like before the pandemic. But, they voted for the return of 5 which will be the rule for the 22/23 season.
Will There Be More Transfers?
Most of the expensive players made their transfers as soon as the season ended but there is a new window for additional purchases. The transfers are open on June 10 and they will have 3 months to decide who they will bring to the team. Don’t expect some major transfers because most teams already have all the players they like and only small decisions will be made.
Top Teams for the 22/23 Season
The first on the list has to be Manchester City which is stronger than last season and they are the favorites to win the title. It has been hard for them in the Champions League after losing against Real Madrid. Karim Benzema took every opportunity possible and managed to score the penalty.
For those that like to make a wager on the Premier League, one of the interesting tips is to play for Tottenham winning the title. The odds for this tip is 1000+ depending on the bookie but it’s very realistic considering how many strong teams are in PL now.
The only team that can beat Manchester City, according to professionals, is Liverpool. But, after bridging Haaland to the team, Manchester shouldn’t worry about scoring the goals. They should worry a bit about their defense because they conceded a lot of goals in the Champions League.
Top Transfers
Haaland isn’t the only big transfer that happened at the beginning of summer. Liverpool also spends millions on Darwin Nunez from Benfica and Fabio Carvalho from Fulham.
Chelsea made a few changes after Roman Abramovich left the club as an owner. It’s expected that they will buy a few defenders because they lost some important players.
A lot of players were free this year including Paul Pogba, Edison Cavani, and Nemanja Matic. These are all important players for Manchester United and their deals are almost over with the club. It’s less likely that other teams will have the opportunity to chase the title.
