Getting stressed is something which we should all be looking to avoid, and the dangers associated with stress on the body are very real. When we find ourselves feeling stressed out our bodies will produce a large amount of cortisone, and that is fine if we need to feel stressed out because of certain situations. Becoming stressed over just about anything however, this is something that is not good for the body or the mind. Lifestyle coach Roger Wolfson is very vocal about finding ways in which to reduce stress, and that is what inspired me to share with you some ideas as to how to feel less stressed and bothered by certain situations.
Could it be Worse?
We often get very caught up in our own world and our own bubble when it comes to stressful situations and that results in us getting stressed about things which we simply shouldn’t. Life could always be worse, there are always people in a tougher situation than we are, who would probably love to exchange their problems for what you are currently going through. This is an important question to ask yourself when it comes to feeling stressed and bothered by a certain situation.
Taking 5 Minutes
Whatever it is that has got you so pent up and bothered, it can probably be resolved very easily. Sadly however, when we get angry and stressed out, we fail to see the solution, even if it is staring right at our face. For this reason it is important that you take 5 minutes, move away from the situation and just take some deep breaths and think about what is going on. Sometimes you just need to disconnect yourself for a little while in order to remedy the issue.
End of the World?
Another reaction which so many of us are guilty of, is assuming that every problem is the end of the world. During this time it is very difficult for us to see that broken things can be fixed, marks can be cleaned and conflicts can be resolved. No matter what it is that has happened, it is not the end of the world and there will be a solution to what is going on, we just have to remind ourselves of the fact that this is not the worst problem of all time.
Good Practice
The coping mechanisms which we have in place to deal with stressful situations do not come from the way in which we react to a situation, but rather in how we take care of ourselves each and every day. This is exactly why it is important to always take a temperature check of your mental health and be sure that you follow good practices. This is why so many talk about meditation and exercise as good ways to stay positive and to look after your mental wellbeing, so that you’ll be in a position to cope with tough situations.
